Loving Yourself Is The Foundation

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

One of the most important, yet most underrated element in any self-improvement program is self esteem. Actually, how we feel about ourselves is most likely THE most crucial factor in any venture we undertake, business or personal!

Self-esteem is not just a subject to be explored when you feel badly, or when you are going through a tough time. And low self-esteem is not an issue faced only by drug addicts, children who live in broken homes, etc.

Consider this…

Self Esteem refers to how you view and think about yourself. Please take a moment to grasp the enormous magnitude of this.

Your identity, consciousness, or self, is the vehicle through which you experience all of life. Any problems existing wihtin or around your image of self will impact literally everything you do in this life!

And the sad truth is many people don’t truly love themselves. In fact our society teaches that it’s foolish, even arrogant to think too  highly of ourselves.

Look… the idea that we shouldn’t love ourselves in the same way we would love the people who mean the most to us in life is absurd! In fact there’s no way you can fully love others without first honestly loving yourself.

Find a mirror and look yourself in the eye. The great thing about our complex consciousness is that we can honestly view ourselves in a “third person” manner; we can think about and look at ourselves as if we are looking at another person. Practice observing yourself from an “outside” perspective often, and really take in the beauty and magnificence you see.

Appreciate yourself. Strive to really see yourself as if for the first time. And start to honestly and totally love yourself in the same way you would love a brother, sister, or significant other.

Do this and you’ll open up a whole new wolrd of power and possibility. You’ll be amazed that you were living a life without this kind of self love before, and you’ll become filled with a desire to help others love themselves as well.

My friend Dr. Joe Rubino has written a phenomenal book on developing the right kind of self esteem for unlocking a truly powerful life. I urge you to take a few minutes to get a copy of this wonderful ebook, read it, and put the exercises you learn to good use.
